Acid-jazz is essentially jazz-funk set to a downtempo or ‘hip-hop’ rhythm, typically consisting of looped samples/phrases and synthesised beats. Though were I being pedantic, I’d probably dub this ‘acid-swing’.
If you’re looking for something less soporific, I’d recommend The Brand New Heavies, Incognito or Jamiroquai circa 1995.
