5 Singing Techniques To Improve Your Singing

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Singing, to many people, is a natural talent that comes from God. However, just by learning a few simple techniques, anybody can improve their singing voice.

Even singers who are already professionals or those with natural born talents will need to practice regularly in order to maintain the quality of their voice and improve their techniques in singing. Practice makes perfect and this is possible through the constant dedication and strong desire to improve yourself in this singing industry.

With so much of competition in this industry, there is strong need to improve your singing singapore abilities and cultivate your personal style in order to stand out from the rest of the crowd.

The rest of this article will discuss techniques that can enhance your singing abilities. There are numerous singing techniques but I am listing only five of them:

Firstly, breathing exercises before a singing engagement should be deep and long. Take a deep breath from the belly to reach longer and loud notes.

It does not matter in the genre of songs as deep breathing exercises allow you to achieve a much louder and clearer singing voice. In order to perfect this, we recommend signing up for meditation and yoga classes which will help you achieve deep control over your breath.

Secondly, tongue twisters are another good way to improve your singing skills. This is a practice where all the mouth muscles work to gain flexibility and to increase the blood circulation.

You will enjoy these tongue twister exercises or warm ups because it is fun and entertaining. This is a way to stretch your throat muscles also and keep you entertained during your vocal warm ups.

In composing songs, composers usually will include variations of high and low notes to come up with beautiful melodies. Singing in a flat note is not popular at all. Moreover, singing on high notes only increases your perception as a singing expert . You can tap into various techniques to understand your vocal ranges better.

And for the vocal ranges in which you lack in, it can be learned through vocal lessons. Employ an experienced vocal teacher in Singapore who will help you stretch your vocal chords and allow you to hit the high notes effortlessly.

If you cannot reach the right notes the first time, take a small pause, relax and try to go over it in your mind. After a short break, close your eyes to experience the notes and concentrate stretching your vocal chords in order to hit them.

Never scream or shout while practicing as it affects the quality of your voice adversely. This has a very bad effect on the voice quality and your singing ability. Never sing harshly and avoid smoking as it deteriorates your singing ability.

Regular practice is what will make a good singer. Having technical knowledge will not be enough on its own. There is no quick way to becoming a terrific singer. A lot of time and effort have to be invested regularly and your devotion can only rule over your singing chords over time.

So, You Want to Learn How to Play Guitar Solo? Read This First!

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Guitars are not straight-forward and simple. They are eccentric and flashy. People want to learn how to play in order to stand out.

To do that, one must first learn how to play a guitar solo in various styles—or at least in their favorite style.

Think for a moment of an average band. Sure, it can be hard to match the charisma of a lead singer, but the guitarist is always close behind in popularity. Ladies tend to go for guitarists because the guitar is awesome and hot! Typically, guys love being the guitarist because they love the solo.

It’s absolutely true! All guys like to daydream about showing off on stage to play guitar solo for five minutes! It’s practically encrypted into every guy’s DNA. It can be awesome. Even as the rest of the band continues to play, they are only playing second fiddle in the amazing creativity and presence of the lead guitarist.

If you are longing to play guitar solo, this guide will break it all down to you in simplest form.

Guitar solo are free from technique, so much of it you can’t learn from one source. When you play solo, it all comes out naturally. In fact, playing guitar solo is the closest you can get to “improve” jazz or blues.

Obviously, a lot of preparation goes into learning how to conquer guitar solo.
To begin with, you must first learn to play at an advanced or expert level. Sadly, no beginner can learn how to play solo within just a few weeks. It’s not that easy. In fact, many solo don’t look difficult, but there’s no way one can play them without complex blends, “pull-offs”, “hammer-ons”, and other expert techniques. You can learn these techniques rather quickly, but it’s more advisable to learn all the basics first.

Once you learn all the fundamentals, then the advanced techniques become much easier. If you’re interested in learning how to play guitar solo, you need to look into “pull-offs” and “hammer-ons”, because you will need to use these 2 techniques often.

Guitar solo use a lot of the high end strings, many of which are notes that are down on the lower 3rd of the guitar neck. Up until this point, you will have more than likely stuck exclusively with the top 3rd section, because that’s the location of the all the chords and power chords. For solo, the focus will change to the lower 3rd section.

Now, you’ll probably run into some complications. For instance, the frets are much closer at the bottom third than they are at the top of the neck. The margin for error is much higher. This is especially true if you have long or thick fingers. Playing guitar solo will really test the speed of your fingers. Don’t think about attempting a solo until you are an expert with strumming and shifting through the strings with ease.

The guitar solo masters will really change the tempo on just a beat and can shift from a slow solo to a frantic pace back and forth easily. However, guitar solo do take time to learn, and are generally not for beginners.

With that said, learning how to play guitar solo can be a wonderful way to expand your horizons, so learn yourself some scales, get familiar with a key or two, and get started learning a few solo!

The Gibson SG EDS-1275: The Ultimate Fast Switcher

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

The Gibson-EDS-1275 has been a favorite among guitarists because it grants them the ability to shift from a 6-string to a 12-string configuration without pausing to change their instruments.

When you see a Gibson Double Neck EDS-1275, it may seem familiar because it is also the one used by Led Zeppelin’s lead guitarist Jimmy Page when he played the song “Stairway to Heaven”.

The double necked guitar allowed him to perform the full song without needing to stop and change guitars.

Today, Gibson has re-launched the well famed double-neck guitar.

It still looks like the good old Gibson-EDS-1275 but it is enhanced with the use of modern guitar making technology. Initially, the EDS-1275 Double neck was introduced as a hollow body guitar way back in 1958. And up to this day, this timeless classic is still a sought after item.

Even if Jimmy Page is the one who popularized it, you can embark on your own rock journey and make your own history!

This guitar is made by hand in Nashville and the two necks are made of solid-maple, both are attached to a classic SG body made of solid mahogany wood for that unique and solid tone. These are made to match the classic Gibson 1960s super slim taper neck, the one Jimmy Page fell in love with.

This guitar’s fingerboards have 20 frets each. Both made from solid rosewood. EDS-1275 Double necks has a classic looking rosewood fretboard that have pearloid tilted diamond pattern for inlays, it also has a single ply binding.

This Gibson double neck EDS 1275 has two PAF type pickups. A 490 Alnico humbucker pickup installed for the bridge pickup and a 498 humbucker pickup installed for the neck pickup. This setting is applied on both the six string and the twelve strings. The SG EDS-1275 Double Neck Guitar features genuine tune-o-matic bridges in addition to vintage tuners and three-way selector switches installed to both guitars. Both the 6 string and the 12 string guitars have their own separate volume controls.

The certificate of authenticity, the cu stomer care kit and the Gibson Hardshell case all comes with the guitar package. Jimmy Page’s EDS-1275 guitar body is slightly deviated from the present model’s body.

Over the years, the shape of the guitar body was changed. Unlike the current 3 piece maple setup, the one Jimmy Page used uses a one piece mahogany bi-neck setup. Its tailpieces are situated close to the guitar body’s base and the PAF humbucker pickups. Just recently, Gibson has released the Jimmy Page Signature model of the EDS-1275 double neck guitar. It has an additional feature that fixes the main flaw of the EDS-1275. The EDS-1275 was nicknamed as “The Aerial” because it known to pick up radio interferences. Jimmy Page’s EDS-1275 double neck guitar has a ground connection that is installed between the 6-string tailpiece and the jack; this is added to eliminate or reduce any unwanted humming sounds due to interferences.

Follow Jimmy Page’s example or simply create your own road to stardom while wielding the Gibson EDS-1275 Double neck guitar.

Beat Making – Cheap & High Quality Way

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

If you want to learn how to make beats from the tunes that go through your head, it can be easier than you might think. Once you develop the skill of taking those tunes and turning them into a great sounding recording, you will want to do it all the time. With time, discipline and practice, you will eventually be making perfect sounding beats.

A low cost beat making program is a good way to practice. To do it the right way it is a good idea to invest a little bit of money in a low cost music sequencer that you can find online. You won’t have to spend much money to get a really good beat making program that is simple to use. The nice thing about having your own sequencer program is that it gives you a multitude of different sounds that can be used for converting those beats in your head to great sounding music you can listen to, share and even sell to others. Most excellent sequencer programs come with easy to follow tutorials that show you how to use the program.

One of the secrets to making your beats is to know ahead of time what style of beat you want to make, like rap instrumental, hip hop, etc. By listening to songs from another artist, you can use their formatting style and base your own beat on that. How do they format the introduction? How do they format the chorus? And so on.

Once you have created a foundation to work from you can start to put down the beat. These are steps that are pretty easy to do if you have taken the time to acquire a good sequencer program. You will want to start with your drums first because drum patterns really make the foundation of any good beat.

Do not shortcut this step. If you will take the time and more practices to get your drum pattern perfect, the other instruments and sounds will be easier to apply to your beat and you will be much happier with the end result. After the drum pattern is created just right, add your keyboard, guitar and other instruments to get the melody right. This is another area where you will appreciate that you are using a good music sequencer. It makes everything faster and easier to create. Then continue to layer your sounds until you get it just right.

The final step (and one of the most important) is mixing your beat altogether. Make sure that each track sounds the way you want it when listening to it on its own. The finished product will sound more professional after you make sure each track sounds perfect.

With a good sequencer you will be able to convert your new beat to mp3 so you can upload it to your computer. After that you can now share it via the internet and download it to your player. Getting the right software (and you don’t have to spend a lot of money) will make the entire process so much easier to do. The right sequencer will have tons of sounds included and video tutorial that help you learn to make beats fast and easy.

Bring Me The Horizon Bio

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Bring Me The Horizon is not your run-of-the-mill deathcore band. For one thing, its name comes from a highly-popular line uttered by the fictional Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of Caribbean movie, which is unexpected for the band of this type. For another thing, its band members established  their own record company in 2005, Thirty Days of Night, in order to release  its debut single.

Musicians in the Band:  From Sheffield Yorkshire, the local boys that formed Bring Me the Horizon in 2004 are Oliver Sykes lead vocalist, Lee Malia, lead guitarist, Matt Kean, bass guitarist and Matt Nicholls, drummer. The rhythm guitarist, Curtis Ward, left the band in March 2009.

The band has had its share of controversy during its young life. Sykes was charged with common assault based on a female fan’s allegations. The charges were later dismissed due to lack of evidence although it should be noted that  Sykes maintained his innocence.

When on tour with the Architects from Brighton, a metal core band, Sykes was again involved, but this time as a victim of Sam Carter from the Architects and his violent behavior. Bring Me the Horizon got a viral hit on YouTube, but it generated intense hate mail for Carter. The whole incident was deemed a boredom release by both bands that was revealed to be a staged stunt.

Record Releases:

Bring Me The Horizon merchandise sales are keeping up with the band’s three albums, based on early numbers. The history of the other albums includes:

The 2004 release of This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was For, topped the charts at number 41 in the UK with four tracks.
The 2006 release of Count Your Blessings, topped the charts at 93 in the UK with 11 songs.
The 2008 release of Suicide Season, included 10 tracks and bonuses of two music videos and desktop wallpapers that were downloadable.

While the first album was first released under the Thirty Days of Night label originally, all three were released under Visible Noise. The band is under contract with Visible Noise in the UK, Epitaph Records in the U.S. and in Australia, the contract is with Shock Records. Bring Me The Horizon merchandise sales should enjoy a wider appeal and better sales with a three continental exposure.

Death-core Genre:  Bring Me the Horizon’s music is a combination of death metal and metal core, which is characterized by growls and screams with metal core vocals, along with the muted riffs and dissonance. With musical influences from The Red Chord, Norma Jean and other American metal-core acts, they are set apart from other death-core bands because of their musical techniques. Besides the immense vocals and massive riffs, blistering percussion and tempo changes, shredding solos are part of their unique style.

To further cement its reputation, and maybe to increase the sales of the %LINK2%, the band has achieved awards like the Kerrang!’s Award   for Best British Newcomer (2006) and nominated for Award for Best British Band   (2008). Truly, with Bring Me the Horizon’s solid direction and songwriting   focus, the band may yet join the halls of metal legends.

Bring Me The Horizon Biography

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Borrowing a quote from Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean,Bring Me The Horizon is not a fictional character, by any means. Different from your average run-of-the-mill death-core band, they formed their own record company in 2005, Thirty Days of Night, when they released their debut single.

Members of the Band  Since Bring Me the Horizon formed in 2004, they lost Curtis Ward, the previous rhythm guitar player in March of 2009, but the rest of the musicians from Sheffield, Yorkshire still remain with the band. Lead vocalist is Oliver Sykes, lead guitarist is Lee Malia, bass guitarist is Matt Kean with Matt Nicholls still on drums.

Sykes faced common assault charges from a female fan, but the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence, even though Sykes always maintained the charges were fictitious. The band has had its share of publicity that could be viewed as negative in some circumstances.

In a staged performance, when on tour with another metal-core band from Brighton, the Architects, Bring Me the Horizon’s Sykes was filmed in a controversial YouTube hit. When Sam Carter subjected him to violent behavior on film, fans generated such  intense hate mail for Carter that it was revealed it was a stunt to relieve boredom on the road by both parties.

Recording History:  While the band’s three albums enjoyed chart peaks, Bring Me The Horizon merch sales appears to be keeping up. The statistics on the albums are as follows:

Released in 2004, with four tracks and topping 41 on charts in the United Kingdom, This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was For, was the first release.
In 2006, Count Your Blessings made it to 93 on the UK charts with 11 songs.
The 2008 release of Suicide Season, included10 tracks, downloadable wallpapers and two music videos.

All three albums were released with Visible Noise, except the first album, which was first released under their own company Thirty Days of Night label. While under contract in the UK with Visible Noise, the band is under contract in the US with Epitaph Records and under contract in Australia with Shock Records. Bring Me the Horizon merch sales should enjoy the benefit of the three continent contracts and labels for a wider following than previous albums.
