Beat Making – Cheap & High Quality Way

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

If you want to learn how to make beats from the tunes that go through your head, it can be easier than you might think. Once you develop the skill of taking those tunes and turning them into a great sounding recording, you will want to do it all the time. With time, discipline and practice, you will eventually be making perfect sounding beats.

A low cost beat making program is a good way to practice. To do it the right way it is a good idea to invest a little bit of money in a low cost music sequencer that you can find online. You won’t have to spend much money to get a really good beat making program that is simple to use. The nice thing about having your own sequencer program is that it gives you a multitude of different sounds that can be used for converting those beats in your head to great sounding music you can listen to, share and even sell to others. Most excellent sequencer programs come with easy to follow tutorials that show you how to use the program.

One of the secrets to making your beats is to know ahead of time what style of beat you want to make, like rap instrumental, hip hop, etc. By listening to songs from another artist, you can use their formatting style and base your own beat on that. How do they format the introduction? How do they format the chorus? And so on.

Once you have created a foundation to work from you can start to put down the beat. These are steps that are pretty easy to do if you have taken the time to acquire a good sequencer program. You will want to start with your drums first because drum patterns really make the foundation of any good beat.

Do not shortcut this step. If you will take the time and more practices to get your drum pattern perfect, the other instruments and sounds will be easier to apply to your beat and you will be much happier with the end result. After the drum pattern is created just right, add your keyboard, guitar and other instruments to get the melody right. This is another area where you will appreciate that you are using a good music sequencer. It makes everything faster and easier to create. Then continue to layer your sounds until you get it just right.

The final step (and one of the most important) is mixing your beat altogether. Make sure that each track sounds the way you want it when listening to it on its own. The finished product will sound more professional after you make sure each track sounds perfect.

With a good sequencer you will be able to convert your new beat to mp3 so you can upload it to your computer. After that you can now share it via the internet and download it to your player. Getting the right software (and you don’t have to spend a lot of money) will make the entire process so much easier to do. The right sequencer will have tons of sounds included and video tutorial that help you learn to make beats fast and easy.

Bring Me The Horizon Bio

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Bring Me The Horizon is not your run-of-the-mill deathcore band. For one thing, its name comes from a highly-popular line uttered by the fictional Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of Caribbean movie, which is unexpected for the band of this type. For another thing, its band members established  their own record company in 2005, Thirty Days of Night, in order to release  its debut single.

Musicians in the Band:  From Sheffield Yorkshire, the local boys that formed Bring Me the Horizon in 2004 are Oliver Sykes lead vocalist, Lee Malia, lead guitarist, Matt Kean, bass guitarist and Matt Nicholls, drummer. The rhythm guitarist, Curtis Ward, left the band in March 2009.

The band has had its share of controversy during its young life. Sykes was charged with common assault based on a female fan’s allegations. The charges were later dismissed due to lack of evidence although it should be noted that  Sykes maintained his innocence.

When on tour with the Architects from Brighton, a metal core band, Sykes was again involved, but this time as a victim of Sam Carter from the Architects and his violent behavior. Bring Me the Horizon got a viral hit on YouTube, but it generated intense hate mail for Carter. The whole incident was deemed a boredom release by both bands that was revealed to be a staged stunt.

Record Releases:

Bring Me The Horizon merchandise sales are keeping up with the band’s three albums, based on early numbers. The history of the other albums includes:

The 2004 release of This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was For, topped the charts at number 41 in the UK with four tracks.
The 2006 release of Count Your Blessings, topped the charts at 93 in the UK with 11 songs.
The 2008 release of Suicide Season, included 10 tracks and bonuses of two music videos and desktop wallpapers that were downloadable.

While the first album was first released under the Thirty Days of Night label originally, all three were released under Visible Noise. The band is under contract with Visible Noise in the UK, Epitaph Records in the U.S. and in Australia, the contract is with Shock Records. Bring Me The Horizon merchandise sales should enjoy a wider appeal and better sales with a three continental exposure.

Death-core Genre:  Bring Me the Horizon’s music is a combination of death metal and metal core, which is characterized by growls and screams with metal core vocals, along with the muted riffs and dissonance. With musical influences from The Red Chord, Norma Jean and other American metal-core acts, they are set apart from other death-core bands because of their musical techniques. Besides the immense vocals and massive riffs, blistering percussion and tempo changes, shredding solos are part of their unique style.

To further cement its reputation, and maybe to increase the sales of the %LINK2%, the band has achieved awards like the Kerrang!’s Award   for Best British Newcomer (2006) and nominated for Award for Best British Band   (2008). Truly, with Bring Me the Horizon’s solid direction and songwriting   focus, the band may yet join the halls of metal legends.

Bring Me The Horizon Biography

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Borrowing a quote from Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean,Bring Me The Horizon is not a fictional character, by any means. Different from your average run-of-the-mill death-core band, they formed their own record company in 2005, Thirty Days of Night, when they released their debut single.

Members of the Band  Since Bring Me the Horizon formed in 2004, they lost Curtis Ward, the previous rhythm guitar player in March of 2009, but the rest of the musicians from Sheffield, Yorkshire still remain with the band. Lead vocalist is Oliver Sykes, lead guitarist is Lee Malia, bass guitarist is Matt Kean with Matt Nicholls still on drums.

Sykes faced common assault charges from a female fan, but the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence, even though Sykes always maintained the charges were fictitious. The band has had its share of publicity that could be viewed as negative in some circumstances.

In a staged performance, when on tour with another metal-core band from Brighton, the Architects, Bring Me the Horizon’s Sykes was filmed in a controversial YouTube hit. When Sam Carter subjected him to violent behavior on film, fans generated such  intense hate mail for Carter that it was revealed it was a stunt to relieve boredom on the road by both parties.

Recording History:  While the band’s three albums enjoyed chart peaks, Bring Me The Horizon merch sales appears to be keeping up. The statistics on the albums are as follows:

Released in 2004, with four tracks and topping 41 on charts in the United Kingdom, This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was For, was the first release.
In 2006, Count Your Blessings made it to 93 on the UK charts with 11 songs.
The 2008 release of Suicide Season, included10 tracks, downloadable wallpapers and two music videos.

All three albums were released with Visible Noise, except the first album, which was first released under their own company Thirty Days of Night label. While under contract in the UK with Visible Noise, the band is under contract in the US with Epitaph Records and under contract in Australia with Shock Records. Bring Me the Horizon merch sales should enjoy the benefit of the three continent contracts and labels for a wider following than previous albums.

Learning Guitar Tabs Efficiently and Effectively

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Know the intricacies of your guitar neck in order to easily figure out the operation of a guitar and the basics of how to play the guitar.

The frets are the horizontal lines you find evenly spaced among the neck. Holding down the string along any point in these frets will produce a note when plucked, and many of these together comprise a song. Guitar tabs are used to briefly and simple describe exactly which strings you need to hold, and which you need to leave open. You’ll be able to see what fret you need to depress in order to get the note right.

Before you can play using tabs, you need to know what each guitar string can do. Starting with the skinniest string and working to the biggest the names will be E, B, G, D, A, and E. Many times these are also referred to by number which would be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, again going from thinnest to thickest. The frets are the boxes on the guitar neck, they are referred to by the numbers 1-19, starting with topmost fret being 1 and the the bottom most fret being 19. You have to know which string to press against which fret if you want to learn guitar tabs. For instance : your tab notation might say ‘1-2′. This means that you should press down strings number ‘1′ inside of fret ‘2′.

If you want to play a guitar chord, it is necessary to press several strings against the fret board in unison. Using guitar tabs, chords become easier to lean. A C chord would be tabulated to say 2-1 4-2 5-3. 1-3 2-2 6-3 is how to play a G chord. If you study chord charts, you will be able to start playing by tabs faster. When the notation describes an ‘O’ next to any string, this means that you use the string by itself, without pressing it down anywhere.

You have to comprehend many other pieces of notation in order to learn guitar tabs effectively. Hammer-ons are denoted by an h; pull-offs are the reverse of that, and a g on the tab denotes that particular movement on the string. Anytime there is a “b” notation, you need to bend the string to cause a wobble effect. The “r” notation represents the release of one note and start of the next. Finally, a ‘/’ indicates that you need to create a ’slide’ by moving to the following note described by your tabs.

Although we can’t go into sufficient detail here on how to learn guitar tabs, there are some great online guitar learning programs out there such as Guitar Superstars which are excellent resources for learning guitar.

Methods For Learning Guitar Tabs

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Know the intricacies of your guitar neck in order to easily figure out the operation of a guitar and the basics of how to play the guitar.

The frets are the horizontal lines you find evenly spaced among the neck. When you hold a string down inside the correct fret, you produce the notes for the song you are playing. Guitar tabs are used to briefly and simple describe exactly which strings you need to hold, and which you need to leave open. These guitar tabs also show you which frets to use with your fingers.

Figure out what string goes where in order to use tabs effectively. The e string is the thinnest, topmost string, followed by string 2 (B), string 3 (G), string 4 (D), string 5 (A), all the way down to the sixth string (E), which is the thickest one – it’s important to know these letters so you can better read the shorthand involved in guitar tabs. Guitar frets number from 1 to 19, and they’re the intervals between the horizontal lines drawn across your guitar neck. Notes are produced by pressing down your finger on these frets to adjust the string. You might see a note that is denoted 1-2; this means you should hold down fret 2 of the e string.

If you want to play a guitar chord, it is necessary to press several strings against the fret board in unison. Using guitar tabs, chords become easier to lean. A C chord would be tabulated to say 2-1 4-2 5-3. The tab for G chord reads: 1-3 2-2 6-3. Tab reading is easy once you have the chord configurations memorized. Anytime there is a 0 by a string, you play it open.

You’ll also need to know a few other notations and symbols if you want to learn guitar tabs. An “h” notation tells the guitarist to hammer on the note. However, if you see a “g” notation, you need to pull off the note. A ‘b’ is an indication that the strings needs to be bent, in order to create a ‘wobbly’ sound. The “r” notation represents the release of one note and start of the next. Finally, a ‘/’ indicates that you need to create a ’slide’ by moving to the following note described by your tabs.

Get Started Making Your Own Beats Today

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

As most artists will tell you, the key to an awesome hip hop song is a killer beat. But what most artists won’t tell you, or might not even know themselves, is that the key to a killer beat isn’t necessarily expensive beat making software. In the past, software was quite expensive, but thanks to awesome advances in technology, this type of software is more and more affordable for new artists looking to break into the music business. Of course, it’s not a good idea to just hop onto the Internet and download the first program you find.

When choosing a website to buy your software from, there are a number of things you’ll want to look for. First, look for vendors that offer free trial periods or money back guarantees. If the product doesn't come with either feature in its software, it probably points to the software being of not great quality. And when looking at money back guarantees, it’s best to find a website that offers them through a third party company, so that you can be absolutely sure you’ll get your money back if you don’t like the software.

In addition to these things, you’ll also want to make sure the vendor offers users guides. Whether they are in the form of e-books or actual printed material, knowing how to operate your beat making software is a good idea. After all, the software is no good to you if you can't use it? One last thing to look for when choosing software: free upgrades, or at least affordable ones. A good beat making package is worth spending a few dollars on as it will usually always be superior to free versions and demos. If you don’t feel this way, then you’ll definitely want to find another vendor to buy from – a pretty easy task, given how many websites offer beat making programs.

The Top Four Home-based Karaoke Song Players

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Home karaoke systems have been around for at least a decade, but with “American Idol” consistently garnering record-breaking televisions ratings and shows like “Don’t Forget the Lyrics!” and “The Singing Bee” trying to grab a part of the action, it’s no surprise that they’re enjoying a resurgence. With each wanting to become the next Taylor Hicks or Carrie Underwood, and even so-so singers receiving their 15 minutes of fame, it’s totally suitable to sing your heart out in front of your friends or within the privacy of your own home.

Enter the home karaoke machine. Everyone from young kids to those in middle age and beyond are picking up the microphone and crooning to their favorite tunes. While you’re in the market for a home karaoke song player, though, how do you recognize which to decide?

There are four main types of home karaoke music players. The first is the traditional singing machine that comes with a microphone and hooks up to your TV. You put in a karaoke CD or cassette into the player and it displays the lyrics to the songs (and perhaps video) on your television. You sing along to the music using the microphone and hear the outcome through either the TV speakers or through built-in speakers in the karaoke apparatus. This type of home-based karaoke music player is rather bulky and not very portable.

The second type of karaoke machine is a stand-alone model. It typically has a small black and white screen (about five-and-a-half inches), speakers, and a microphone. It may also have a small video camera built in. With these home-based karaoke music players, you can look at the words on the small screen. If you hook and eye it up to your TV and Videocassette recorder, you can use the video camera to superimpose an image of the person singing onto the screen and make a recording their presentation to tape. While this type of machine can be fun for parties, the small black and white screen is a major drawback. Another disadvantage of the traditional singing machines and the stand along models is that you’re limited in the songs you can play. In other words, you have to wait for popular tunes to come out on karaoke CDs or cassettes before you can start singing them. By this time, songs are generally out of date and not as much fun.

The third type of karaoke is packaged as only a microphone. It comes with about 30-40 songs preloaded, through you can also load MP3 downloads. While this type of home karaoke music player is more portable and is meant to be plugged into your television, there’s no mechanism for reading the lyrics. This means that your musical presentation has to be just that – a performance where you already know the words to the songs.

The fourth sort of karaoke player is among the hot new gadgets hitting the market. It can best be described as a cross between an iPod and a MP3 player. These focused MP3 players allow you to buy MP3 downloads, load them into the player, and input the song words. Then proprietary software allows you to get rid of the original voice path from the song and record your own voice over the music while reading a display of the lyrics.

This sort of karaoke singing player is definitely poised to sweep the market. It’s portability is unprecedented – in essence, it’s a handheld karaoke MP3 – in that you don’t want to be anyplace near a TV in order to use it. It also has the benefit of being able to play any song – even top 20 Billboard hits.

Of all the karaoke music players on the market, the cutting edge MP3 karaoke player is the one to beat.
